…And then they both took a moment to halt on the side of the road…
Dusting their coatst to shake off the path’s dust, they looked back on the fertile pastures from which they had picked up the flowers. Twenty years of playing together already! Sylvain Lemêtre and Frédéric Aurier, taught in classical schools, commited to comtemporary music, curious of the musics from all around the world, Fred and Sylvain decided to write music that would resemble them. Performers, composers, improvisers, they gathered the seeds they had patiently collected : musical theater, electro pop, 5 or 7-beat bourrée, Ligeti and Machaut, what’s up there and what’s down below… They grabbed the zarb and the violin, the nyckelharpa, the framed-drum and the tibetan bowls, they also found, sitting there on the enbankment of the path, a threaded stick and a Newton clock : Superklang was born !
Virtuoso written pieces, invented folk, improvised miniatures, Superklang’s music is always on the move, they want to play the musics of the cracks and fissures, to ride off the soundtracks, to escape standardized standards, to flout preconceived formats and to invent a music that is, like them, alive and sound.
