For almost 10 years, the musicians of Arta Balarta have been working on popularising traditionnal and modern tango and weaving threads with the vast string quartet repertoire.
For their latest project, they teamed up with argentinian upright bassist Seba Noya, to put together an original vision of tango for string quintet. Composer and arranger himself, Seba Noya has also been working for years with contemporary tango composers. This projetc’s compositions offer a dive into a revisited, creative, surpsising and captivating version of argentinian tango. The themes, subtle harmonies and complex rythmic structures come alive around music modes rarely used by string musicians.
The unconcealed and contagious pleasure the musicians take in this project, as well as the strong bond they’ve had since the beginning, make the listener embark on an exciting human and sound journey.
